Harry Styles fan falls from balcony at Glasgow concert

A mother whose son fell from 35 feet at a Harry Styles concert said “it’s a miracle” he survived.

Dylan Wood fell from the top row of Ibrox Stadium during Saturday’s event and was placed on life support – but incredibly escaped with just two black eyes, bruises and concussion.

The 20-year-old’s mother, Marion Hawkins, said video of the moment showed him throwing himself into the tightly packed crowd below, leaving her with nausea.

The electrical engineer from East Kilbride, Scotland, reportedly enjoyed a company evening in a VIP box the daily record.

He lost his balance and fell over a barrier, landing on seats several feet below, knocking him unconscious.

Dylan was taken to the High Dependence Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow but was miraculously discharged home later today.

Mum-of-four Marion said: “We didn’t know what injuries he had so he was put on a ventilator to keep him stable.

“It was a breeze that night but the scans all came back clear and he has no broken bones.

“It’s an absolute miracle that he’s still here, walking away with only cuts and scrapes. I felt sick watching the video of it.

“Dylan cried with me on the phone today, I think it’s easy for him to understand how serious it was and how close he came to not being here.”

Traumatized witnesses described how Dylan fell from the club deck above the main grandstand towards the end of the show and watched in horror as paramedics performed CPR on him.

Sharing Dylan’s account of what happened, Marion added: “Dylan told me he leaned against the railing in the VIP box and remembered thinking it was quite low.

“He can’t remember exactly, it’s a bit fuzzy, but he thinks he leaned against it, misjudged it and fell behind. It all happened so quickly.

“He was unconscious and remembers waking up and getting a fright when people grabbed him.

“Paramedics were called and they got him out of there and worked on him in the ambulance before taking him to the hospital.

“I just panicked when I got the call and drove straight there. But he’s fine now and I’m hoping to get him home today, I need him home.

“I can’t stop thinking about it. I hope it was just a crazy accident but I get angry when it turns out the barrier was too low and someone is to blame.

“The main thing is that he’s fine. He’s a very happy boy.”

Rangers are understood to be examining CCTV footage of the incident and are holding a security meeting today to review how the incident happened.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Officers were arrested on Saturday 11th April.

“There were no suspicious circumstances and the man was being treated by medical staff.”
