In the image, NASA’s Ingenuity helicopter blends seamlessly into the Martian surface, which is made up of dirt, dunes and debris.

The scene shows a rocky part of Jezero, a crater on Mars in the Syrtis Major quadrilateral.

The tracks left by NASA’s Perseverance rover are also easy to see at the bottom left of the photo.

Perseverance captured the photo on January 8 with one of its many mounted cameras.

The rover, which has been on Mars since February 2021, has just completed its 38th flight.

A Twitter user called the snap of Ingenuity the closest view we’ve seen in “quite a long time.”

ingenuity

Affectionately called NASA’s Mars Helicopter, Ingenuity measures about 19 inches in height and weighs four pounds.

The instrument was also sent to Mars in February 2021 as it was hitchhiking with Perseverance.

Its main goal is to demonstrate controlled test drive flight on another world.

Perseverance, on the other hand, looks for past life on Mars and collects soil and rock samples to study on Earth.

The rover will also help prepare for future human exploration, NASA said.

Recently, Perseverance deposited its first sample of Martian rocks on the Martian surface.

The titanium tube currently rests on the red planet’s surface, having been placed there on Dec. 21, according to NASA.

Over the next two months, the rover will deposit 10 tubes at the same location called “Three Forks”.

This is intended to be the first human sample depot to be set up on another planet.
