Good morning Arsenal fans
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is finally a Barcelona player – two years after new manager Xavi warned them about the move.
The 32-year-old has put pen to paper signing at the Nou Camp just 48 hours after Arsenal canceled his contract to allow him to sign on a free transfer.
Speaking about his move to the Catalan giants, Aubameyang said: “I am very proud, especially because my family is Spanish from my mother.
“I am really proud and happy to be here. My main goal is to help the team and give everything I can to get the team back into the Champions League and things like that.
“I’m just happy to be here and I’ll try to give everything.”
And former Gunner Mesut Ozil was quick to send Aubameyang his best wishes following the striker’s move to Spain.
On social media, Ozil wrote: “All the best brothers.”
Meanwhile, the Gunners may also have to replace Alexandre Lacazette this summer after Lyon increased their interest in the French star.
The organizers of Ligue 1 have vowed to devote all their efforts to this striker when the season ends.
And a free transfer deal could be coming to an end, with Lyon sporting director Vincent Ponsot revealing that he is in regular contact with Lacazette’s representatives.
Ultimately, the Gunners are fully focused on the future and are planning the biggest spend in their history with a budget of up to £180m on summer signings.
Billionaire owner Stan Kroenke wants to show his faith in manager Mikel Arteta by providing funding for a major roster upgrade.
That means there will be money for two elite strikers and an established central midfielder.
Alexander Isak, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ruben Neves have all been identified as the hungry young players needed to take Arsenal to the next level.
