Superbad is directly responsible for Emma Stone’s signature red hair

Judd Apatow, the famous producer behind “Superbad”, has revealed behind-the-scenes details to Vanity Fair.

“There is a concern that [Stone] has the same hair color as Martha MacIsaac. And I said, “Well, maybe it could be like red or something.” So we dyed her hair red, which I think she’s never done before. And ever since then, she cursed me because now everyone loves her with red hair and she has had to live with that for the rest of her adult life. “

This might explain why the producer wanted Stone to dye her hair, but why was the actress willing to go the extra mile for the role?

Currently, this actress may be an Oscar winner, but at the beginning of her career, she faced a lot of rejections. She repeatedly auditioned for the role of casting director Allison Jones but never successfully landed any of the roles she was looking for. One day, she received a call from Jones asking her to audition with Jonah Hill.

“I felt it was a real testament to the power of casting directors and all these auditions you would think were failed auditions,” the actress recalls. “Sometimes someone remembers you, and asks you to come do something and change your whole life.”

Stone was willing to dye her hair for “Superbad” because she knew that working with the creative team that made “The 40 Year-Old Virgin” would be an incredible opportunity. Though she’s proven more than her proof as an actress, she’s continued to elevate every role she takes on, committing herself completely – and dyeing her hair red – throughout the years that followed.
