An Alice Cooper superfan has seen his idol so many times he’s now friends with the star and his band.

Nick Woodward hangs out with the 74-year-old rocker and dines with his musicians.

The 61-year-old has been to 104 Cooper gigs across the US and spent £100,000. But it clearly paid off.

He was invited to the wedding of guitarist Michael Bruce, who wrote the hit Schools Out, and Lynette and met Cooper’s daughter Calico.

Nick said: “The surviving members of the band have become pretty good friends of mine now.

“I keep in touch with Michael and his wife, as well as with [drummer] Neal Smith and [bassist] Dennis Dunaway.

“Alice was a very social gentleman and his wife is nice too. I’ve been to the US many times to see the reunion of the original band.

“These occasions are truly magical. It’s strange that childhood heroes became good friends later in life.”

Nick spotted Cooper at the First Direct Arena in Leeds this month.

The carpet company manager said: “There doesn’t seem to be any sign of him slowing down at all. At 74 he’s playing just as well as he did 50 years ago.”

Nick from Padiham, Lancs bought his first Alice Cooper record, Elected, aged 11 in 1972 and first saw him live in 1982.

He has a collection of memorabilia worth thousands of pounds, including concert programmes, photos and at least 250 albums or songs.

Another person who is clearly a fan is Claudia Winkleman.

She says she put on makeup for her 50th birthday because she’s going to look like the glam rocker.

The Strictly Come Dancing host and mother of three celebrated the milestone in January.

She said: “I love getting older.

“It’s not that I want time to go by quickly, but I’m totally fine with it and I will still look the same.

“I want to look like Gene Simmons or Alice Cooper, so it’s not like I want to look young and bouncy and fresh.”
