Surprise WhatsApp update will change your group chats – here’s how it works

WHATSAPP makes it easier to quickly create a group chat.

A secret new update currently being tested adds a new shortcut to the app.

This feature allows you to quickly create group chats from a specific contact’s profile.

It means it’s a lot easier to form groups since you have more choices.

The feature was uncovered by the tech detectives of WABetaInfowho mine regularly Whatsapp for upcoming changes.

“WhatsApp added a new shortcut called ‘Create Group’ in the ‘Contact Info’ section,” explained WABetaInfo.

“This link is only visible if you already have a group with the contact.

“When you tap the new shortcut, WhatsApp automatically selects the contact to add to a new group.

“The group is not created immediately, as you can also add other participants before creating it.”

This particular feature is currently being “rolled out” in beta.

The beta is a trial version of WhatsApp used to test new features.

Anyone can sign up for the beta to try out app updates ahead of their general release.

It’s currently unclear when the new group shortcut will go live.

WhatsApp could take weeks or months to add it — or scrap the idea altogether.

How to get WhatsApp beta

To download WhatsApp Beta for your smartphone you have to go google play on their Android and search for whatsapp.

Scroll down the page until you see “Become a Beta Tester”.

Tap the “I’m in” button, then tap “Join” to confirm.

Now all you have to do is wait for the update to the beta version of the app.

Join the WhatsApp beta iPhone is more difficult and has a limited capacity.
