When talking to Vanity Fair, Sarandon describes her time on set in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” She speaks:
“I love hanging out with those guys, but it’s not a situation where we have a lot of downtime because the budget is, I think, a million dollars. A very, very tough shot. It’s freezing. , and then there was no heat in the studio, and we were obviously half-dressed and wet a lot of the time, so I got pneumonia. They put a heater with screens around to keep us warm. in the middle, and then it caught on fire. My trailer also caught on fire. I have nowhere to live. They keep transferring me every few weeks. When you’re in these situations, you have to call. to my agent and asked them to do something, but my staff didn’t really respond at the time. But anyway, it looks like we had a lot of fun, right?”
Looks like they had a lot of fun! Knowing that Sarandon had pneumonia and was facing literally putting out the fire certainly made her time as Janet in a new light. It says so much about the company she continues to work for that she still thinks about the experience with some affection. Who wouldn’t want to hang out with Tim Curry and the others to bring that delightful cast of amnesiac characters to life?
