Sussex Pokémon Champion Joins Reality TV Show

A self-proclaimed “geek” has spoken about his experiences on a TV show where people and “beauties” team up in hopes of finding love.

Nitish Doolub, 35, will appear on Beauty And The Geek UK after being approached about his £100,000+ collection of Pokemon cards.

Nitish from Haywards Heath is one of the best Pokémon players in the world and is taking part in the series where he has a chance to win £50,000.

He’s not allowed to reveal how he’s doing on the reality show, but said: “Being on the show has been a wonderful experience and I’ve made friends for life.

“They made us live together and face challenges, and we were taken out of our comfort zone.

“I think the show will be particularly well received.”

He said he was approached to compete as one of the top Pokemon card players in the world after competing at the 2018 World Championships.

He said the trading card game has allowed him to travel all over the world and he has traveled to America, the United Arab Emirates and Brazil for tournaments. He is currently among the top 25 players in the world.

Nitish has amassed a large collection of rare and exclusive Pokémon cards, including some that are only available at events like the World Championships.

A reboot of the popular American series, the reality TV show sees eight “geeks” and eight “beauties” in a series of challenges in hopes the couples will find love.

Couples are slowly eliminated throughout the show, with the last couple being declared the winner and sharing the £50,000 prize.

Nitish said the show also featured a number of celebrity appearances and judges, and he “met people he wouldn’t otherwise have worked with.”

Other competitors on the show include a music teacher and a former Miss Birmingham.

The series premieres on Discovery+ in the UK on Sunday and is helmed by radio DJs Mollie King and Matt Edmonson. Sussex Pokémon Champion Joins Reality TV Show
