Sussex Police are reporting “technical difficulties” with the 101 emergency number

Crime victims are being urged to report incidents online after police reported “technical difficulties” with a phone service.

Sussex Police said they were experiencing a “malfunction” with their non-emergency 101 number and asked the public to use their online reporting system to alert officers to non-urgent matters.

The emergency call 999 is not affected by the problem.

A police spokesman said: “We are having technical difficulties with our 101 service.

“If possible, please use our online reporting system to bring non-urgent matters to our attention.

“Our 999 calls are unaffected for emergencies only.”
