Sussex police officer stands trial for assaulting woman
A police officer faces a trial accused of assaulting a woman.
Peter De Silvo, a Sussex Police officer, appeared at Staines Magistrates’ Court today.
The 45-year-old has pleaded not guilty to the indictment, which allegedly took place on November 24 last year when he was off duty.
The woman is known to De Silvo.
He is currently suspended from duty.
The matter was referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct, which ordered that an on-site investigation be conducted by the Professional Standards Department.
