Tabletop RPG RuneScape Kingdoms: Shadow of Elvarg brings Gielinor to the table

RuneScapeThe journey from into the tabletop gaming world is getting closer. When it was announced that there would be new board games this year, details were few. Now, RuneScape Kingdoms: Shadow of Elvargwas officially announced, with a Kickstarter campaign on the way.

Steamforged Games is behind the design of the board game that will feature the very first official game RuneScape Table Game Miniatures. They work with Jagex on the lore and content for this cooperative campaign game that prioritizes narrative and immersion. Kingdoms of Elvarg is for 1-5 players and takes place in Gielinor.

You can explore Asgarnia and Misthalin on the game board, which is designed to resemble a fast travel map. There will be opportunities to improve your skills and complete quests. You can also face some familiar and challenging boss fights and encounters. There are no definitive classes, so you decide how you want to advance and what you want to focus on.

According to Steamforged CCO Mat Hart, in a press release accompanying the announcement, they are working to incorporate all sorts of elements of flavor RuneScape and Old school RuneScape into a table game.

“It’s incredibly important to us that the board game appeals to RuneScape fans of all kinds. Because of this, the board game is heavily inspired by content and references from both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape that will be familiar to all players, past and present.

We also developed the board game so brand new fans could enjoy the rich world of Gielinor even if they’ve never experienced the video games.”

You can craft your gear, maybe even gather resources for recipes, choose which skills you want to upgrade, and of course do some exploration and maybe some side quests on your journey. You can also just take on the campaigns and the boss fights if you really want a more linear path forward.
