AN INDEPENDENT supermarket is preparing to open another store in the city.
Taj the Grocer, specializing in a range of organic and exotic fresh produce from around the world, will open a new store in London Road, Brighton.
The supermarket’s flagship store is on Western Road in Brighton and another on Haslett Avenue West in Crawley.
The former Poundstretcher store will be remodeled before it opens, installing shelving and multiple checkouts in the store.
Signs outside the store say the grocery store will be opening soon.
The grocer will also open a new branch on the University of Sussex’s Falmer campus in September.
Taj has had a presence in the city for several years and was founded in 1965.
The business had a store on the corner of St James’s Street and Old Steine until 2010, which was taken over by supermarket giant Sainsbury’s.
Taj was contacted for comment.
