Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins revealed some of the wild exploits he’s had on tour with frontman Dave Grohl

Taylor Hawkins narrowly avoided spending a night in jail for driving under the influence in 2000 — while bandmate Dave Grohl was not so lucky.
The Foo Fighters drummer, 50, died in a hotel room in the Casa Medina in northern Colombia’s capital Bogota ahead of a festival the band was scheduled to play on Friday night.
Resurfaced footage from a 2015 interview shows Taylor reliving one of his wildest moments with Dave on tour.
The band performed at the Gold Coast’s Big Day Out Festival in 2000 when the friends rented mopeds for sightseeing.
But as Dave rode the scooter back to their hotel, he was stopped at a police sobriety checkpoint and was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.95.

In Australia it is a criminal offense to drive or operate a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.05 – and so Dave was taken to court.
During the band’s Australian tour, he was forced to return to the Gold Coast to stand trial.
He was convicted and fined $400 — but Taylor wasn’t over the limit.
“Me and he got mopeds on the Gold Coast, like everyone does, goes around, it was great fun, so we spent a few days down there before the show,” Taylor told ABC’s 7.30.
“The exhibition day is coming, it’s a beautiful day. We took the scooters – I think [Grohl] even drove it onto the stage like you were on the first song in Judas Priest. So we lagged, we hung, we partied, Dave was overserved, it was a very irresponsible barman backstage who overserved Dave.

“And then me and Dave rode our scooters home and I wasn’t really excited.
“I had a bag of weed in my pocket but he was hammered. And we both got stopped at one of those damn police sobriety checkpoints – I passed, Dave failed.”
The drummer’s death at the age of 50 could be drug-related, according to the Colombian police.
The Metropolitan Police of Bogota said in a statement to several Colombian newspapers: “The cause of death has yet to be established.
“According to people close to him, the death could be related to drug use.”
Local reports in Colombia said hotel staff called emergency services after Taylor complained of chest pains.
He was already dead when medical workers arrived at his hotel room.
