Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins dies aged 50

Dave Grohl’s comparison of the Foo Fighters split to grandparents’ divorce has resurfaced after the band’s drummer, Taylor Hawkins, died suddenly.

Following the announcement of the 50-year-old rock star’s death, attention was drawn to previous interviews.

With Taylor, it opened around a time the band was about to quit, as they struggled to find contentment with their music.

The drummer had toured with Alanis Morissette before landing his part as part of rock band The Foo Fighters when Dave had to replace William Goldsmith.

Speak with Louder sound In 2019, Taylor admitted that despite being the band’s drummer, he didn’t feel that way.

He said: “I was a drummer for the Foo Fighters but I didn’t feel like it drummer at the Foo Fighters. I mean, Dave played half of [Hawkins’ first Foos album] There’s nothing left to lose .”

Eventually, Taylor would feel like part of the group, but this came after a difficult period that put the group in a difficult position.

The drummer almost died of an overdose in 2001 after snorting a string of heroin. It is reported that he attributed the incident to “partying too hard” rather than addiction.

While Taylor spent some time recovering, the band’s frontman Dave Grohl began playing drums with the band Queens of The Stone Age.

Later, when the Foo Fighters reunited, they struggled to achieve the sound they were looking for.

Taylor said, “We made this album, which took five months and cost a million dollars, and it just didn’t have it.

“Dave was in love with Queens Of The Stone Age, we couldn’t figure out how to be a band.

During this time, Taylor decided to move away from The Foo Fighters, saying that he would sell his house, try to get his old job back of “delivering pizza or selling weed”.

Although it seemed like the end, they decided to try again. They reissued the entire album in a week, creating what some have called the band’s “worst album ever” One By One.

Although Taylor himself said the album was “flaky, weird-sounding, [and] F***ed-up’, he also credited him with getting the band back together and finally making him feel like a permanent part of the group.

Since then, the band had remained solid, and they haven’t even come close to breaking up since then.

Taylor said Dave would insist they were now too old to separate.

He said: “Dave always says we’re too old to separate. It would be like your fucking grandparents getting divorced. ,What? Grandpa having an affair?!?’”
