Taylor Hawkins made a sweet gesture to 9-year-old drummer sensation Emma Sofía just days before his sudden death.

The late rock star was found dead in a hotel room in northern Bogota, Colombia. His tragic death was announced by his band’s social media accounts on Saturday morning.

Just days before his untimely death, the Foo Fighters drummer stayed at a hotel in Retiro, Buenos Aires on Tuesday night.

Aware that her idol was staying at the hotel, Emma set up her drums outside of the hotel in hopes of meeting the star.

The talented young drummer was surrounded by crowds of fans as she showcased her drumming skills and heard Taylor share her skills.

Taylor has tracked down the drummer prodigy



In the early hours of Wednesday, Taylor left the Sheraton Asunción Hotel and went in search of the prodigy after hearing about their drumming outside the hotel.

Hordes of fans had gathered to hear the young girl play and Taylor managed to find her way.

Emma’s father Julius proudly explained that Emma decided to set up her drum kit and play for the Foo Fighters while surrounded by other fans.

On Twitter, he shared a picture of his daughter with the world-famous drummer in a tweet that has now gone viral.

Alongside the picture, he wrote: “My daughter has been campaigning since she found out the Foo Fighters were coming to meet them.

“Today we took her drum kit to play in front of the Sheraton and see who came up with her reputation. Dreams come true.”

The viral moment came just days before the drumming legend, aged 50, was found dead in his hotel room in Colombia where the Foo Fighters were due to play at a festival.

A statement on the band’s official Twitter page said: “The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins.

“His musical spirit and infectious laugh will live on in all of us forever.

“Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect at this unimaginably difficult time.”

It has been reported that Taylor’s death could be drug-related, but it is currently unconfirmed.

It was also reported that prior to his death, Taylor complained of chest pains to hotel staff.

The band have confirmed that they will not be performing at the Estéreo Picnic festival in the capital following the tragedy.

Tributes to Taylor have flooded in from across the music world today and it is clear he will be sorely missed by many.
