Taylor Swift Wins At The 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards As She Claims Top Gong Players

Taylor Swift was crowned supreme at the 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs), winning the top four gong awards in a night filled with electric performances.

Overcoming her six nominations, the American megastar took home Best Video and Best Long Video for her 10-minute version of All Too Well (Taylor’s Version), as well as best artist and pop song. best at the ceremony held at PSD Bank Dome in Dusseldorf, Germany on Sunday.

Harry Styles, Nicki Minaj, Muse and Gorillaz are among the global stars who have also received top awards from 20 sexist categories.

Singer-songwriter Swift, 32, made sure she thanked her fans – known as Swifties – for every award, saying at one stage: “You’re the reason everything has happened to you. I.”

Her first prize for best long video was awarded by John Lennon’s son and singer Julian.

Accepting the award, she said, “I’ve been writing and directing my music videos for a long time but this is the first short film I’ve made and I feel like I’ve learned a lot about myself about how Filmmaking can be a natural extension of my storytelling just like composing. “

Swift also thanked actors Dylan O’Brien and Sadie Sink, who starred in the music video, which was also later chosen as best video, beating competition from As It Was’s As It Was. “The older version of this song came out like 10 years ago and it was never a single,” she said. It was never supposed to have a music video, a short film anyway.

After the ceremony, she celebrated her successful night with dusty star Stormzy, who shared a selfie on Twitter showing them posing together as Swift held a glass of wine, captioning the post Posted with a love heart and an emoticon that is full of emotions.

Former One Direction star, Styles was the most nominated musician at the awards with seven nods but only went home to best live performer.

US rapper Minaj was awarded Best Song for Super Freaky Girl and Best Hip Hop Artist, while US singer Chloe won best R&B.

David Guetta and Bebe Rexha kicked off the EMAs with a bang, performing their hit I’m Good (Blue), which went on to win the award for best collaboration.

The duo were lifted from the bottom of the stage in a box as the crowd raged around them, and Guetta also won the title of best electronic music.

British band Muse accepted the award for best rock after performing their electronic track Will Of The People at the start of the ceremony.

While a video was shown of Gorillaz performing their song Cracker Island from the Tonhalle concert hall in Dusseldorf, recorded the night before, before the band won best alternative.

Stormzy also emotionally performed her ballad Fire Babe during the ceremony, creating an intimate moment with kinetic lighting with guest vocalist Debbie as he performed the song for the first time on TV.

Ukrainian rap group Kalush Orchestra received a warm welcome from members of the audience waving the flag of the war-torn country as they took to the stage to perform Eurovision-winning song Stefania.

Traditional country designs are projected across the stage, and they’re supported by dancers in pink bucket hats that lead singer Oleh Psiuk loves.

Tom Cruise also sent a surprise message to introduce OneRepublic’s performance of I Ain’t Worried, the movie they wrote for Top Gun: Maverick.

The Hollywood star said he was “so grateful” to the band and their frontman Ryan Tedder for recording the song.

Lewis Capaldi gave a powerful rendition of his song Forget Me as he took to the stage while Gayle energetically performed her viral hit Abcdefu as she danced in bed.

This year’s awards ceremony was organized by famous singer-songwriter duo Rita Ora and Oscar-winning filmmaker Taika Waititi and marks the sixth time the awards ceremony has been held in Germany.

This is the first time the couple has worked together after keeping their partnership mostly unnoticed since they first sparked relationship rumors last year after appearing together on TV. Red carpet.
