Seriously: Janette and Aljaz talk about ‘last dance’ together

Dance team bosses are seriously considering bringing in an Italian giant to replace fan-favorite Aljaz Skorjanec.

Ireland Dancing with the Stars pro Pasquale La Rocca has lifted the Glitterball trophy three times, twice in the Irish version of the show and once in the Belgian equivalent.

And he has emerged as a candidate to replace Aljaz, who left the BBC show earlier this year.

A source said: ‘Strict bosses have put together a wish list and will love Pasquale as long as they can get him off the show in Ireland. He’s super talented and an exciting prospect. ”

If he is caught, he will follow in the footsteps of Kai Widdrington, who also switched from Ireland’s Dancing with the Stars to the UK version of the show.

The secret wish list came when Pasquale suggested two weeks ago that his future might lie on the British version of the show.

“When you are a part of the worldwide DWTS market, of course you will be seen and discovered by other countries,” he admits. You have to leave and go somewhere else”.

He added: “I don’t know what will happen. But I’m a huge fan of the Dancing With The Stars series. I’ve been on the move since the beginning of 2019, and I will. ”

The BBC has revealed the first batch of professional dancers returning to the show later this year.

Confirmed are Dianne Buswell, Graziano Di Prima, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Neil Jones, Cameron Lombard, Gorka Marquez, Giovanni Pernice, Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Kai Widdrington and Nancy Xu.

Two other positions are expected to be filled following the departures of Oti Mabuse and Aljaz. Technically, Anton Du Beke could fill Aljaz’s spot, but he is expected to remain on the jury.

Anton himself has said he wants to stay on the panel, which he joined after COVID-19 pandemic restrictions made it difficult for Bruno Tonioil to fly between the UK and the US, where he was a judge on Dancing With The Stars.

Anton said: “I love being a judge. I heard Craig wanted me to stay and he was nice. I would love to stay. ”

When asked if he would be “fit” to return to the dance floor if Bruno came back and took his place, Anton added: “That’s right. I’m actually on tour at the moment. I don’t stop. The very reboot will kill you. “
