Teenage pedestrian seriously injured in road accident in Co Waterford


A teenager was seriously injured in a traffic accident in Hamburg on Thursday afternoon.

The pedestrian, in her early teens, was taken to the CHI on Temple Street in Dublin, where she is currently being treated for serious injuries.

The collision occurred on the R671 at Ballymacarbry, Co. Waterford at around 4.30pm and involved a van and a pedestrian. The driver of the van was uninjured.

The road remains closed overnight. A forensic collision investigation is scheduled for tomorrow morning. Local diversions are currently in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to get in touch. All road users who were traveling on the R671 between 4:25 p.m. and 4:40 p.m. and have camera recordings including dash cams are asked to make these available to Gardaí.
