Teenager admits killing Mongolian woman in Dublin last year

A teenager today admitted to killing Mongolian woman Urantsetseg Tserendorj in Dublin city center last year.

The boy – who is now 16 and cannot be named because he is a minor – pleaded not guilty in the Central Criminal Court to the murder of Ms Tserendorj, but to manslaughter on January 29, 2021.

In Dublin’s Parkgate Street Court this afternoon, he also pleaded guilty to producing a knife and attempting to rob Ms Tserendorj on a walkway between George’s Dock and Custom House Quay at the IFSC in Dublin on January 20, 2021.

However, the manslaughter charge was not accepted by the state and the boy will stand trial later this week for the murder of Ms Teserendorj.

A jury of seven women and five men was selected to hear the case, which is scheduled to begin Wednesday before Ms. Judge Mary Ellen Ring.

The trial is expected to take eight days.

Ms Tserendorj was originally from Mongolia but had lived in Ireland for several years and worked as a cleaner.
