A teenager has been charged with murder while another is dead after a violent brawl over a love triangle outside a KFC restaurant.
About 20 people were involved in the fight, which broke out in the town of Casino in New South Wales, Australia, on Sunday night, police said.
Lachlan Andrews, 17, was stabbed multiple times and died at the scene.
Harrison Hone, 18, was also injured in the brawl. Nine news reports.
He was taken to Lismore Base Hospital in stable condition.
A third 17-year-old teenager was arrested on a nearby street before being charged with murder, negligent assault and racketeering.
He could not be identified because he is a minor.
The conflict that sparked the argument was reportedly a love triangle involving Andrew’s pregnant partner.
“There appears to have been some kind of arranged meeting, from that meeting an argument started with a number of people,” Superintendent Scott Tanner said Monday.
“From the footage we received, up to 20 people were involved in this melee.”
Worker Andrews had recently moved to Casino from Canberra.
There he had learned to drive boats and catch fish.
The teenager was described by his family as “an amazing child with a bright future”.
His accused killer would appear for a hearing at Children’s Court on Monday.
Andrews did not seek bail and would remain in custody until his next appearance in July.
