A teenager has been hospitalized after getting into trouble while swimming at a popular Dublin beach on the hottest day of the year.
Ardaí said the boy got into trouble while swimming at Burrow Beach in Sutton, north of Co. Dublin, around 7.30pm this evening.
Gardaí and rescue services were on site and the boy was taken out of the water.
He was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he is in serious condition.
The incident came on the sandy beach on the hottest day of the year so far, when temperatures topped 27C in parts of the capital and people flocked to the sea to enjoy the warm weather.
