Tesco recall amid ‘do not eat’ warning over health risk

The supermarket fruit and nut mix contains milk, which is not mentioned on the label, making it a possible health hazard for those with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk components.

Tesco is recalling the product from consumers and has contacted the relevant allergy organizations who will notify their members of the recall.

The retailer has also issued point-of-sale notices explaining to customers why the product is being recalled and telling them what to do once they have purchased the product.

The notice reads: “We have been made aware that a batch code of Tesco Mixed Fruit and Nut may contain 25g of milk, which means milk is not declared on the pack. The product could pose a safety hazard to people with a dairy allergy or intolerance.

“Please do not consume this product, if you have a dairy allergy, return the affected product to the store for a full refund. A receipt is not required.”

Affected Tesco customers are asked to contact customer service.
