Tesla Model 3 catches fire from the inside – cause still unclear

A TESLA Model 3 caught fire just minutes after the owner got behind the wheel – the cause is a mystery.

Texan Ali Hasan picked up his electric car from a body shop, but just 10 minutes later he said it started smoking.

The fire spread and the vehicle became a burned-out ruin standing by the side of the road.

In 2021, the Tesla was involved in an accident that severely damaged the front end.

Then, in August 2022, according to the owner’s social media posts, the car lost its rear bumper, hubcaps and suffered underbody damage in deep water.

Now the fire appears to have brought the car’s life to an abrupt end, which the owner said came as a complete surprise to him.

Mr. Hasan tells carscoops: “Everything looked fine to my eye.

“While driving down the freeway, I noticed smoke coming from the right passenger seat, and it got progressively worse as I drove a half-mile to get it off the freeway.”

The cause of the fire has not yet been clarified.

Mr Hasan did not blame the body shop, but he did acknowledge the correlation.

He said: “As far as I know so far, nothing, except that they replaced sensors and bumpers and the cover under the car.”

Mr Hasan expanded his thoughts in a comment on a Facebook thread.

He wrote: “There were also sensors they changed which now that I see they go to the passenger side and there was also a cover that fits under the trunk [front and trunk] which they also exchanged.

“I’m not pointing fingers at all, I’m just stating a theory because it’s my only explanation.”

Some commenters suspected a problem with the battery, but Mr Hasan said that had already been ruled out as the cause.

The interior of Mr. Hasan’s car is almost completely burned out, while the body of the car is largely untouched.

Fortunately, Mr Hasan managed to escape without burns but said he was in the hospital with breathing difficulties.

The Sun Online has been in touch Tesla for comment.
