Texas shooting: Parents converge on elementary school massacre
Two boys and four girls have been identified as among 19 innocent child victims of horror school shooting in Texas – as devastated relatives say ‘hug your family’.
Along with a 4th grade teacher and an assistant teacher, they are among the identified victims of 18-year-old gunman Salvador Ramos, who marched into Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, and opened fire.
During his killing spree, Ramos, described by those who knew him as antisocial and distant, butchered 19 children and two adults, while it is known his own grandmother was shot and remains in hospital. The shooter was said to have been shot dead by the police.
Ten-year-old student Xavier Lopez was one of the first victims to be named and was identified by his heartbroken family.
His mother had reportedly attended an awards ceremony for him just hours before the shooting, unaware that this would be the last time she would ever see her young child, his cousin said ABC.
A GoFundMe reportedly linked to the family has been set up and raised over £35,000.
Nine-year-old Uziyah Garcia was another tragic victim and was in fourth grade. He would have turned 10 this summer, his family said.
His aunt Nikki Cross confirmed his death ABC 5 and shared his photo online, mourning his tragic death.
Garcia’s uncle Mitch Renfro wrote on Facebook, “My nephew was the victim of a school shooting today.”
He added that he was “killed by a madman”.
Alongside the two boys, it was confirmed that Amerie Jo Garza was killed in the disgusting attack. abc news reported.
Her father, Angel Garza, told the outlet that his daughter turned ten just two weeks ago.
In a statement released by ABC News, he wrote, “Thank you everyone for the prayers and for helping me find my baby.
“She was found. My little love is now flying high with the angels. Please don’t take a second for granted.
“Hug your family. Tell them you love them. i love you amerie jo Take care of your little brother for me.”

Eliahana “Elijah Cruz” Torres, 10, was also identified among the dead.
On the day of the shooting, she had said she didn’t want to go to school, her grandfather said, but her family told her she had to. FoxNews reported.
Makenna Lee Elrod was also confirmed dead by family last night.
The ten-year-old’s father, Brandon Elrod, revealed she has been missing since the shooting and said he feared “she may not be alive”.
He told KTRK he was on his way to the funeral home and later a family friend confirmed her death on Facebook, writing, “Sweet Makenna rest in paradise! My heart is broken because my daughter Chloe loved her so much!

“I’ll never forget how excited she was to meet a new friend from another school! Just a few weeks ago she gave her a friendship bracelet at the stadium and she wears it every day! When she wakes up tomorrow, she will be devastated. She is praying so much for her sweet family!”
Steven Garcia and Jennifer Lugo confirmed the heartbreaking news that their daughter Ellie was also killed in Tuesday’s massacre after not being seen for several hours.
In a Facebook post, Father Steve wrote: “It’s hard to comment on anything, my mind is currently spinning at 1000mph…but I want to send our thoughts and prayers to those who haven’t made it home either have tonight!!! Our Ellie was a doll and was the happiest ever.
“Mom and Dad love, never forget that and please try to stay by our side.”

In addition to the six youths whose deaths have been confirmed, Eva Mireles, a fourth grade teacher who had been at the school for about five years, was killed in the shooting reportedly trying to protect students.
Her aunt, Lydia Martinez Delgado, confirmed the death to ABC News.
Delgado said: “I am angry that this shooting is continuing. These children are innocent. Guns shouldn’t be easily accessible to everyone.
“This is my hometown, a small community of less than 20,000 people. I never thought that this would happen to especially loved ones.

“All we can do is pray for our country, our state, our schools and especially for everyone’s families.”
Mireles was married to Ruben Ruiz, a 43-year-old police officer with the local police department, and the couple have a college-age daughter.
In her Robb Elementary School profile, she described herself as an active runner, hiker and sometimes biker.
A second teacher, Irma Garcia, was identified as another shooting victim by heartbroken family members and friends.

The 46-year-old co-teacher had been teaching for 23 years and was nominated for 2019 Teacher of the Year by the Uvalde Independent School District.
Her nephew John shared the news of her death on Facebook, saying: “My Tia didn’t make it, she sacrificed herself to protect the children in her classroom. IRMA GARCIA IS HER NAME and she died a HERO. She was loved by many and will be truly missed.”

There have been a number of reports online and on social media about the possible identities of other victims, but so far no more have been confirmed by their families or authorities.
Ramos shared pictures of the guns he bought on his Instagram just days ago before attacking the school.
