A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a teenager in hospital 16 days after he was repeatedly stabbed.
Police say 16-year-old Rommel McKoy was attacked in Brixton, south London, on the evening of April 4.
He was hospitalized but lost his fight to life on April 20.
The victim is the fifth teenager murdered in the capital this year.
Two youths, aged 16 and 17, arrested in connection with the incident have since been released on bail.
Detectives are appealing to anyone with information about the Hicken Road attack just after 7.35pm Monday 4 April to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Sal Minhas of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: “A 16-year-old boy has lost his life and his family deserves answers to their questions about what happened to him.
“I want to assure Rommel’s family that we are committed to bringing the responsible person(s) to justice.
“Thank you to everyone who has already spoken to the police about this incident. If you have not already contacted us, it is now even more important that you do so immediately.
“Please allow my team to assess what is important as you may have information that is critical to our investigation.”
Detective Superintendent Neerav Patel added: “The Met is making significant strides in reducing violence in London, but tragedies like this senseless murder are a reminder to all of us that there is much more work to be done.
“Locals will have seen more officers in the area in recent weeks.
“The thoughts of my colleagues and I are with Rommel’s family and especially his grieving mother. Met officers will be available to assist as long as we are needed.”
A spokesman for the Met Police said: “Police were arrested on Monday, April 4th.

“Officials attended with London Ambulance Service and found 16-year-old Rommel McKoy with stab wounds.
He was taken to the hospital, where he later died. The date of death is recorded by the doctors as April 20, 2022.
“Rommel’s family is aware of this and is supported by specially trained officials.
“The Met’s stabbing investigation is now a murder investigation.”
