The A27 is closed in Lewes for road works on the National Highways

The A27 is due to be partially closed as part of repair work in December, National Highways said.

The road, which has already been closed near Lewes, will now experience further closures to complete work in the area, resulting in a detour of around 20 miles.

Closures around the Drusillas roundabout will take place from Monday 28th November to Friday 2nd December and from Monday 5th December to Saturday 17th December.

A detour will be in place along the A26 and A22 from 5 December to accommodate the work between the roundabout and Polegate.

A two-way traffic light will also be in operation for the first closures.

Most of the roadwork will take place overnight, with the 20-mile diversion operating from 8pm until 6am the next day.

However, the first closures on Station Road are between 9am and 4pm.

Improvement work will focus on repairs to the Folkington footpath along the A27. Paving work is also being carried out on some roads. The A27 is closed in Lewes for road works on the National Highways
