Japan is getting an incredibly healthy look animal crossing-Themed encyclopedia intended to be an educational tool for children.
Blathers has a lot to say about all manner of critters and creatures in the world of Animal Crossing, but we don’t always want to hear it. For those who want to learn a little more, there is an encyclopedia based on all non-anthropomorphic animals new horizon coming out later this year, although sadly it’s only Japan (thanks, VGC).
Apparently the book contains information on all 235 species you can find and catalogue, but the pages shown mostly only give little tidbits of information. In addition, the book includes a 57-minute DVD, and the two together aim to teach children various aspects of ecology.
The book/DVD combination is scheduled for release on July 29, but there is no sign of an English translation. Still, it’s always fun just looking at pictures of animals, so hey ho, we won’t judge if you pick it up anyway.
It’s nice to see something new from Animal Crossing, even if it’s not an update to the main game. New Horizons received its final update and only paid DLC towards the end of last year. The free update introduced a few new villagers, much to everyone’s delight, and the DLC basically introduced a whole new game in the form of Happy Home Paradise.
The cozy island living sim was also nominated for a Hugo Award, one of the first selections of games to be nominated for the award, though it ultimately lost to the incredibly good Hades.
There’s not much more in sight for Animal Crossing (sorry), but at least Nintendo fans can look forward to other fashionable games like Splatoon 3.
