Alan Holland lived a quiet, comfortable life as a lecturer in artificial intelligence at University College Cork. But in 2012 he gave it all up and tried to build a startup specializing in procurement automation.

0 years later, this company, Keelvar, has just received its latest round of funding of $24 million and plans to grow the company’s workforce to over 100 employees.

Alan talks to technology editor Adrian Weckler about what it was like to leave the safety of an academic university life for a startup. He also explains what will happen next in the supply chain crisis.
