What’s the worst thing anyone could do on your wedding day? Probably pulling a nasty prank, that’s what.
A woman complained on Reddit’s “Am I The A**hole” forum that no one found the prank she pulled on her sister’s wedding funny.
She wanted confirmation that what she had done was actually funny, but unfortunately she wasn’t given much support.
She wrote: “My (23F) sister (27F) got engaged about 2 years ago. I don’t hate her. Because of our age difference, we were never closest sisters, but we didn’t hate each other. Her fiancé (now husband) is a great man. I’m really happy for her.
“So rushing to the wedding ceremony, when the priest finally said, ‘Any objections,’ I stood up and said, ‘I object…(long pause) because this couple is way too cute for each other!’ I really just have it.” said as a joke.
“I thought it would be something we could all laugh about at the front desk. But I could see the color draining from my sister’s face as soon as I stood up. After I finished my little joke, I couldn’t really laugh. My sister looked away and acted like she didn’t care, but I knew she probably did.
“I sat down and the ceremony continued. At the reception I went to my sister and congratulated her but she totally blew up. She told me my joke wasn’t funny and that I was ruining her mood, her happiness and her special day. I was shocked.

“It literally wasn’t even that big of a deal. I was joking, not really objecting. I argued those points and she just walked away from me. This morning I woke up to tons of notifications from my family members saying I’m an AH for it.
“But I think everyone just overreacted, it was really just a joke…so, AITA?”
Many people didn’t see the funny side of the joke and said the younger sister just wanted to take the shine off the special day.
“It’s a way of making a scene on their big day. How desperate are you for attention?” one wrote angrily.
One minister took the time to comment with insider knowledge: “Minister here: It’s getting worse. If someone objects during the ceremony, you have to stop and investigate at some points, even if it’s a joke. Some officials will not even continue the ceremony that day. OP could have literally derailed the whole wedding.” Wow…
Another wrote: “It’s crazy that OP even doubted it. She caused a scene (well, attention obviously) for no reason. Then her sister made it clear that she didn’t find it funny at all (who would like that of their best friend, let alone a sister they’re not close with).
“Yeah, the only way a bride will find this funny is if you object during the rehearsal/walkthrough. Not the actual royal wedding,” grumbled another.
So it turns out people didn’t find it funny either, perhaps unsurprisingly. One Redditor even said, “You totally gave her Taylor Swift Grammy speech to Kanye.” Yikes.
