ALBION loanee Haydon Roberts is being helped by ex-club defender Liam Rosenior as he adjusts to life in Derby.
Rosenior is currently interim manager at the Rams after Wayne Rooney left the club for DC United in the MLS in the summer.
Roberts joined Derby on loan this summer and has already played four League One games for the club.
Rosenior’s role at Derby is helping Roberts adjust to the situation in the Midlands, as he says the manager is “still the same” as he was when he was at Albion.
The 20-year-old told Derby’s website: “He’s still the same as he was when we were in Brighton and someone I can ask questions of.
“I learn a lot from him. He played professionally himself, so I’m learning from him. It’s the same relationship as before and with someone I look up to.
“It’s a new role that I’ve been asked for. In my youth career, I’ve always played internationally as a centre-back and occasionally as a left-back.
Roberts came through the ranks at Albion and can play in a variety of defensive positions. Roberts is looking to improve on this versatility in order to further his career in football.
He said: “I’m learning and where I want to go in my career I need to be versatile and adaptable. It’s all beneficial to learn the role that I’m doing, but I think it’s one of responsibility in the way we play.
“I only get better by playing games, with patience and with practice. I want to be able to influence the game at left-back.”
