The Brighton forward is hoping to find the best form for next season

ALBION striker Danielle Carter has admitted she wasn’t at her best during her debut season with the club and hopes to regain her best form next season.

In 21 games in the Women’s Super League, Carter has scored just twice and provided one assist.

While Carter believes she’s worked hard for the team, she’s not happy with her form in front of goal.

The 29-year-old told BHAFC: “I don’t think I was even remotely the best version of me last year.

“I’ve worked hard and put in a shift for the team every time I’ve played, but there’s more to come. Hopefully with some new additions we can build on each other and bring out the best in us as a group.

“It was good to play regularly again last season. Overall we were a point off the club’s WSL record, which was unfortunate and a bit of a downer. But overall it was a decent season to build on.”

The ex-Arsenal and Reading striker is looking forward to seeing new players join the club during the transfer window as some Albion regulars left the club at the end of the season.

She said: “It’s going to be interesting because a lot of the girls who were an integral part of the team have left.

“The atmosphere Hope and staff have created with the players is fantastic so it will be important that we onboard the new players quickly and make sure they fit into our system.

“It’s a family team, the girls are great, we have brilliant characters. Everyone gives 100% and wants to do well for the team and I know the players we bring in will have that attitude.”

Carter is now one of the club’s most experienced WSL players and she aspires to be one of the leaders in Hope Powell’s squad.

She said: “Coming here, I knew it was going to be a completely different role than what I’ve done before.

“I know it was my first season, but I’m one of the older players with a lot of experience.

“I can imagine it will be the same this season when more is asked of me.

“I’ll be part of the group that helps the new players settle in.” The Brighton forward is hoping to find the best form for next season
