The brilliant Edwardstone has the perfect Arkle profile

Cheltenham’s famous shout-out as the Supreme Newcomers’ Nudge (1.30) opening the annual Festival has almost become a bit of a cliché, but we certainly missed it last year with Covid forced the meeting to take place behind closed doors.
Obviously terrible events in Ukraine, it’s great that the world is getting back to normal and it would be great to hear cheers from a building crowd in the Cotswolds today.
A lot of them will be cheering on Nicky Henderson’s Constitution Hill in the opening game, looking classy in the Tolworth Hurdle, but I don’t think we learned much from his win on the scoreline. 2/5 and my money is going on Dysart Dynamoare competing for bias with Constitution Hill in the early markets at 5/2.
Just like his opponent, Willie Mullins’ six-year-old has run the hurdles twice, and although you could argue we didn’t learn much from it either. Dysart Dynamo’s most recent win 4/9 in the Second Division at Punchestown, there’s something about his style that excites me and he certainly looks out of the ordinary.
Nicky Henderson’s other runner-up, Jonbon, is not without a 5/1 chance but in my book Dysart Dynamo has the most potential and he could bring Paul Townend’s Festival to a flyer. advertisement.
Champion Hurdle (3.30) can be watched without a bet as the peerless Honeysuckle gets its fifteenth straight win at the hands of Rachael Blackmore, for around 4/7. What more can we say about Henry de Bromhead’s mare that has yet to be said?
The racing public has truly taken her into their hearts, and it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a horse cheered and welcomed back to the parade circuit the way she was after her success in the Grand Prix. Irish Championship at Leopardstown at the Dublin Racing Festival.
I assume there’s a chance she’ll eventually be defeated, and at this stage it’s more of a relief every time she wins again, but for now, she’s still on top of her game and there’s no reason to assume she won’t claim her second Rush Champion this afternoon.
Willie Mullins’ Appreciate It’s had a few setbacks and hasn’t been seen since winning the Newcomer’s Supreme Race last year, but looks the best of the rest and is the one with the most the ability to track the most favorite house.
It’s been a few years since Alan King had a Festival winner but I trust that Edwardstone (Snap) can put that right in Arkle Chase (2.10), price 11/4 or there.
He is the oldest horse in the field at the age of eight, but he has been absolutely brilliant since moving from hurdles to hurdles in November and the four-timer completed last time in the game. Kingmaker Hurdle Second Place at Warwick.
He had put some good horses in the sword on that occasion, and that came after a ten-year victory in the Wayward Lad Rookies’ Pursuit at Kempton over Christmas, albeit with a takedown. 5lb penalty.
He has the right record for this race; He has the pace to kick fast when required, he jumps well, and he will be hard to beat if he delivers today’s A-game under the guidance of Tom Cannon.
I think the biggest threat to the bet comes from Willie Mullins’ Blue Lord, who is about to beat one of today’s other entries, the Riviere D’etel, at the Irish Arkle.
Statistical Attack: Sporting Life Arkle Chase
The Arkle is a true test of jumping ability, and the short distance means they travel at a fast pace, often able to catch up with young, inexperienced horses.
Five-year-olds have poor performances, the eventual winner being Voy Por Ustedes in 2006, but back then, younger horses were subsidized weight for age. That allowance was removed in 2008, so all horses now race at weights that don’t include any gender allowance. Last year we had only five runners-up and the only five-year-old in the race, Allmankind, finished fourth 5/1. This year, three horses will try to go against the trend, namely Haut En Couleurs, Saint Sam and Riviere D’etel.
Arkle favorites have a good track record with seven wins over the past ten years, although Western Warhorse took a big hit in 2014 when it went 33/1.
Race Guide for Day 1
1.30
Constitution Hill and Jonbon will be favorites with traditional draw punters, but it looks like Dysart Dynamo could be the favorites, and Willie Mullins’ six-year-old could take his first win across the board for Ireland around 5/2. As the winner of two hurdles and two hurdles, he last looked pretty special out on the field at Punchestown.
2.10
This is a somewhat feeble innovation for Arkle so the talented Edwardstone stands out as the top of the class here at 11/4. He dances well and looks set to give Alan King his first Cheltenham Festival winner since 2015. Blue Lord and Riviere D’etel are the best of the rest.
2.50
Paul Nicholls’ Frodon failed the Irish Gold Cup recently but he’s back to the racing handicap company with 164, from which he won the same course and distance in 2020. He is now ten age but still has a lot to offer, and the early odds of 14/1 make him attractive in every way.
3.30
At 4/7, it doesn’t make much sense to bet on Honeysuckle but she looks poised to score her fifteenth straight win for Henry de Bromhead and Rachael Blackmore. An excellent mare, she’s the star of today’s show so all fingers crossing it are planned. Appreciate It can follow her home.
4.10
A strong case could be made for several entries here including Telmesomethinggirl and Queens Brook, but Stormy Ireland received the nod for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend on 11/2. She’s back against her gender after winning here over five stallions on New Year’s Day.
4.50
There’s been a lot of hype about the Gaelic Warrior looking fun and going to be loved here, but 5/2 is a bit short for a horse that hasn’t raced outside of France. Petit Tonnerre instead gets one vote each way 20/1 for Jonjo O’Neill after the Briton’s successful debut at Market Rasen, 3lbs less than 138 today.
5.30
Willie Mullins’ Stattler put out the call at 5/2 with my fellow Irish independent Patrick Mullins set to ride. Helpful at hurdles, he’s even better over the fence and he completed the double by winning Third at Naas last time out.
