Amnesia and Soma studio Frictional Games has announced that Amnesia: The Bunker, the latest game in the survival horror series, will be given a brief delay alongside an official release date for later this year.
The game was unveiled in last December a short film for PC and consoles with a launch window of March 2023. Frictional Games today announced that Amnesia: The Bunker will be delayed by approximately two months with a new release date of May 16, 2023.
The developers said the delay was due to “a series of illnesses” over the winter that had impacted overall development and meant enough for the small studio to delay the game’s release by a few weeks.
Amnesia: The Bunker is set during World War I and follows French soldier Henri Clement, left behind by his battalion and trapped in an abandoned military bunker, where some sort of creature from the shadows is chasing him.
The game features the psychological horror and dark environments typical of the franchise, as well as limited combat with guns and grenades. The studio touts that the game will have player choice “in a sandbox horror survival environment” and an “unscripted environment” where objects and resources can change with each playthrough.
Amnesia: The Bunker will be released on May 16th for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
