The busiest day to go on vacation this summer, revealed by a travel expert

THE busiest time of year to go on holiday this summer has been revealed – and it’s not good news for families.
Perhaps not surprisingly, research has found that a given day in August is predicted to be the busiest of the year.

If you have flights booked for August 12, expect a very busy day at the airport.
OAG chief analyst John Grant claims there are currently a whopping 16.1 million places available by that date, although it is in the middle of the summer holidays so the majority of schools will have disbanded.
Previous data from Cirium showed the busiest day prior to the pandemic was a similar time.
The second Friday in August 2019 – August 9 – was the busiest, with a whopping 17 million passengers traveling.
However, he has also warned Britons to expect the number of flights to fall as many airlines face an ongoing battle with Covid staffing shortages.
EasyJet is expected to eliminate a number of seats on its flights to allow the airline to fly with fewer crews on board over the next few months.
In a statement, EasyJet said it was an “effective way” to operate its fleet this summer.
It comes after European airlines, including EasyJet, had to cancel thousands of flights in the run-up to Easter.
And around 60 flights a day – about 10 per cent of all British Airways flights – are due to be canceled between March and autumn, with more than 16,000 flights affected.
And as more people travel, airports have to contend with huge queues, causing passengers to queue miles in front of the terminal and even miss their flight.
Kully Sandhu, chief executive of Aviation Recruitment Network, warned that it “could take at least the next 12 months for the industry to settle down in terms of vacancies.”
He said it wasn’t just Covid causing problems in hiring new staff, which he said there were more than 300 vacancies at UK airports, but also Brexit.
