Infinity Ward, the game’s developer, announced at the end of the video that his “world reveal” will be released on June 8th.

That means players only have to wait a few more days to get their first proper look at the first-person shooter.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II will be released in October – just in time for Christmas.

The blockbuster shooter was first teased in February, while its release date was only confirmed last week.

It is published by Activision and is a direct sequel to the 2019 reboot of Modern Warfare.

The new live-action trailer shows Task Force 141, the main team from this game, preparing to go behind enemy lines.

The camera pans between characters in some kind of vehicle as explosions and bullets fly around them.

“The ultimate weapon is team,” Activision said in its description.

Modern Warfare II will be the 19th main title call of Duty series and follows some fan-favorite characters.

Returning to the series are Captain John Price, Sergeant Kyle “Gaz”, Lieutenant Simon “Ghost” Riley and the legendary Sergeant John MacTavish – better known as Soap.

CIA Station Chief Kate Laswell will also return, and we’ll likely introduce a new Warzone 2 mode as well.

It’s unclear exactly what the plot will be, but it’s expected to tie into the events of Modern Warfare 2019.

In this game we saw how the CIA teamed up with the SAS to take on Russian forces and a terrorist group called Al-Qatala.

In a blog post about Modern Warfare II, Activision said, “A global force of iconic veterans and new legends of secret missions untold, these Operators will usher in a new era of Call of Duty when Modern Warfare® II releases on October 28, 2022 .”

The shooter is not to be confused with Modern Warfare 2, a game published by Infinity Ward in 2009.

That featured many of the same characters as the title that came out this year.

For the sake of simplicity (ahem), the new game gets the Roman numeral “II” to distinguish it from its previous counterpart.

Call of Duty is one of the world’s largest gaming franchises, drawing an estimated 100 million players into its games every month.

The series reached new heights in 2020 with the release of Warzone, a Fortnite-style, last-man-standing game mode that’s free to download.

The Call of Duty franchise is estimated to be worth $10 billion in revenue.
