The cast of fireflies thought a lot about the future of their characters

The cast of the movie “Firefly” has a special reunion for 10 years of reunion on Science Channel “Firefly: Browncoats Unite” and a major point of discussion was what became of Serenity’s crew. According to Morena Baccarin, who plays Inara Serra, a Companion who lives on the ship, her character has a scary past and is harboring a “dark secret”. Writer/director/executive producer Tim Minear revealed that Inara’s secret is that she is terminally ill. This isn’t the only dark plan being worked out against Inara, though it makes sense, considering what she told the ship’s resident doctor, Simon Tam (Sean Maher), in ” Out of Gas.” After he told her he didn’t want to die on Serenity, Inara replied, “I don’t want to die at all.” Baccarin also said that Inara isn’t the only one with a secret and that the screenwriters already have a roadmap for where the entire crew will head.

When asked what would happen to his mercenary Jayne Cobb, Adam Baldwin said, “I came up with the idea that maybe he could get his own ship and compete with Mal one little, and failed miserably and had to come back, humble.” Well, that definitely sounds like Jayne. As for Nathan Fillion’s Captain Malcolm “Mal” Reynolds, the actor did not mention specific ideas, but felt the character would become “more bitter and more cunning.” Hope not. I like to think that Mal has finally found his way to some happiness. Sure, bitterness is his thing, but Fillion makes Mal so likable that you can’t help but love him.
