The Chase’s Mark Labbett has announced his participation in a new TV show alongside Baywatch star Brooke Burns after The Beast was dropped from the US version.

The 56-year-old professional quizster revealed he was “gutted” earlier this month when he was not invited to return as Chaser on the ABC drama.

But The Beast has since announced that he is working with Brooke, who previously hosted the US version of The Chase in the US, on a “different show”.

Mark, who still appears on The Chase in the UK and the Beat The Chasers spin-off for ITV, took to Instagram to announce the news.

He wrote: “The dream team is back but on a different show this time. So excited to be back with superstar Brooke Burns,” along with a moment of the pair filmed against the backdrop of The Chase.

Chaser fans were quick to celebrate the news in the comments section, with one line reading: “Yay!!! I intentionally block my calendar during the day to see the replays.”

Another wrote: “Congratulations on your show and weight loss journey.”

This comes after Mark shared his disappointment when the new US The Chase lineup was confirmed.

When asked by a fan if he wasn’t re-appearing for communication reasons, he said: “No, they didn’t renew me. No reason was given. ”

He shared the news after The Chase’s US account tweeted: “New season. New Chasers.

“Victoria Groce, Brandon Blackwell and Buzzy Cohen join Brad Rutter and James Holzhauer on May 3 as #TheChase returns.”

Mark responded to this account saying: “Didn’t want to be invited back but really excited about the new lineup. I’m expecting Brandon and Victoria to wow America. They will be great. Bonus opportunity! ”

Meanwhile, unfortunately, the Beat the Chasers sequel series will not feature Governor Anne Hegerty, who has revealed that she has tested positive for coronavirus.

“Unfortunately, I’ve contracted Covid-19 so I won’t be filming this Beat The Chasers series,” Hegerty told fans.

“The amazing Issa Schultz will follow in my footsteps and I can’t wait to see the film when it airs later this year. I feel fine, but I’m still optimistic! (with all due respect).”

Issa replaces Anne – known as The Supernerd – having previously appeared on The Chase Australia.

The Chase airs at 5 p.m. weekdays on ITV.
