Instead of splurging on a brand new chest of drawers that better suits her interior style, TikToker Abi Hugo reveals how she gave her old trusty IKEA a whole new lease of life.
The the brand’s £115 HEMNES drawer is part of IKEA’s core collection – but Abi was keen to make the plain white wood look a little more rustic.
For starters, the clever DIY fan covers the top of the device and the inner drawers Frenchic Salt of the Earth painted – is a light beige shade that costs £19.95 for a 750ml tin.

“Once it dried, I re-brushed it with Salt of the Earth paint that had been watered down and finished it off with brown wax,” she explains.
And if you didn’t know the particle effect was fake, you wouldn’t know the chest wasn’t made of real pine.
The clip has garnered more than 630,000 views since it was posted late last year, and people have been stunned by the incredible transformation.
One person replied: “Wow that looks amazing!”
Another added: “Absolutely beautiful.”
