The Lady of Heaven follows the story of Laith (Gabriel Cartade), a little Iraqi boy who loses his mother in the war and is then sent to live with his grandmother, Bibi (Denise Black). The grandmother tells the story of Lady Fatima, the first victim of terrorism, and teaches the boy the power of patience.
Directed by Eli King and produced by Enlightened Kingdom, The Lady of Heaven also received creative input from Academy Award® winner John Stephenson.
The cast also includes Christopher Sciueref, Ray Fearon, Mark Anthony Brighton, Lucas Bond, Albane Courtois, Sami Karim, Matthew Brenher, Yasmin Mwanza, Dimitri Andreas and Chris Jarman.
The film involved a huge, dedicated team of religious experts and a creative team. All teams involved had a common goal – to tell the story of Lady Fatima with the utmost respect and precision.
For example, the religious guidelines of Islam prohibit sacred characters from being created or represented by living humans. As a result, The Lady of Heaven The visual effects team circumvented this challenge by using CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) technology, which shows respect for Islamic tradition and follows religious codes.
The film’s screenwriter, Sheikh al-Habib, was responsible for directing the shooting and various subtleties of the portrayal of the religious figures throughout the film.
This is the first time the story of The Lady Fatima was shown on the big screen.
The Lady of Heaven Filmmakers stated: “There are 250 films about Jesus Christ, 120 films about Moses, 80 films about the other prophets and 40 films about Buddha, but until now there is none about the life of Lady Fatima, the daughter of the Prophet Mohammed.”
The filmmakers went on to explain how “The Lady is cherished in the hearts of billions around the world, but her story has never been shared through film. Her story is a universal one that we can all learn from and that teaches us the best response to corruption and power-hungry politicians.” They went on to explain how “She is a powerful and important historical figure unmatched by many around the world was presented.”
The film also reveals the historical roots of ISIS, giving viewers a glimpse into the origins of this notorious terrorist group. The Lady of Heaven artfully compares terrorist groups throughout history, beginning with Lady Fatima through to the 21st century. With these themes in mind, viewers may be able to leave theaters with new insights into modern-day terror groups.
This is a film not to be missed. When the film came out in the US last year, a family drove five hours to Michigan to see the film. Another fan flew to Detroit from Toronto just to see the epic film.
