The Crow Reboot is officially in post-production, probably at this point

While the original “Crow” has been re-evaluated in recent years as a hallmark of modern goth media, it has carried that mantle with a very heavy burden. During filming in 1993, star Brandon Lee was killed after actor Michael Massee wielded a faulty fake bullet gun. Since the actor had very little money left to film the film, the producers decided to finish and release “The Crow”, dedicating it to Lee, who seemed to be on his way to stardom. Alex Proyas, the director of the original film, spoke out about his disdain for the reboot, telling “It’s Hughzy, Hello!” podcast that he tried to kill all the projects that were suggested.

“Brandon Lee died making that movie, he paid the worst price anyone could pay to make a movie and that’s his legacy,” he told the podcast. “It’s not just a movie that can be remade. It’s one’s legacy, and it should be treated with that level of respect.”

Given the way the project has always been touted as a remake rather than a new one in James O’Barr’s comic book series, this sentiment is understandable. Still, it’s likely that the Sanders remake will honor Lee’s legacy and untimely death, and we hope so. The Crow Reboot is officially in post-production, probably at this point
