The first trailer for The Crown season five has been released, showing an “all-out fight” between King Charles III and Princess Diana.
etflix’s historical drama will head to the ’90s in the upcoming new season, with Dominic West playing the monarch while Elizabeth Debicki takes on the role of the late princess of Wales.
At Netflix’s fan event Tudum on Saturday, viewers got their first look at footage from the new season, as well as the date the show will premiere to streamers this fall.
The trailer begins with a voiceover by a news reporter reading: “Buckingham Palace released this statement: ‘Unfortunately, the Prince and Duchess of Wales are parting ways. “
Close-up photos are shown to show Charles and Diana’s hands, then faces, as other reports describe “the uproar in Britain after Prince Charles expressed his soul to the country, but the Princess Wales supported her husband.”
Both Charles and Diana then got their hair and makeup done as they prepared for their private interviews.
“This is turning into all-out war,” said another voice.
Imelda Staunton will wear Queen Elizabeth II shoes in the new season of Crownwhile Jonathan Pryce plays her husband Prince Phillip.
Production is currently underway on the show’s sixth and final season, but was forced to pause earlier this month following the Queen’s death.
Crown Season five is coming to Netflix on Wednesday, November 9.
