A cruel owner’s pets have eaten her dead cat after weeks of starving her at home without food or water.

Leann McConnell, 31, appeared at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Thursday afternoon and admitted to multiple counts of animal neglect.

She admitted leaving the tabby, who she called “Fat S***”, with another cat and dog at a home in Norris Green without food or water. Liverpool echo reported.

Peter Mitchell, prosecutor for the RSPCA, said McConnell abandoned the animals in late October last year and they were discovered the following month.

The deceased cat’s name was referred to as “Fat S***” in court records.

The other cat, a black and white cat named Tilly and a terrier named Chunk, then both ate parts of the animal’s body in hunger.

Mr Mitchell said: “The cat died during that particular time and was eaten because there was no other food available for the other animals.”

He said inspectors found the cat’s partially eaten body. He described photos of the animals, which will not be shown in court today, as “cruel”.

McConnell spoke to confirm her personal details and plead guilty to three counts of causing needless suffering to a protected animal.

Toni Moran, defending himself, said McConnell had significant mental health problems and asked for a report to be ordered before sentencing.

She said inspectors had indicated that there was kibble at the house on Hollingbourne Road where McConnell was living at the time of the offences, but said it could prove to be of minimal relevance to the case.

Citing her mental health issues, judges sent her case to the Complex Case Court at Sefton Magistrates’ Court.

McConnell, who is now of no fixed abode, will be sentenced there next month.
