It’s been almost a week since debut Fate 2great Witch Queen expanded, and the game was in a much healthier place than before; players are praising the various updates the title has seen virtually all over the world, and as I’ve been enthralled elsewhere, it’s the best Destiny 2 ever felt in years – probably the never happend.
But that doesn’t mean there are no problems. This is a live service game, after all – there are always a few hiccups here and there when it comes to major content updates.
Last night, Bungie’s game director for The Witch Queen – Joe Blackburn – took to Twitter to explain what the studio is looking to improve as we move into Week 2 of New Seasons and beyond.
Perhaps the biggest change coming in the next few weeks has to do with the Wellspring drop; A quick glance at any Destiny 2 community hub reveals that the Wellspring drops are a point of contention for many in the game, and some players have already sifted through nearly all of the content released in the game. Witch Queen so far without receiving even one of the special Deepsight guns they need to unlock the crafting creators. Sorry. Given that crafting is such a big part of this Season’s selling point, that’s not ideal.

As a result, Bungie will increase the chance of weapons dropping in Wellspring and add ‘bad luck guard‘more – it’s basically a fallback safety item that gives you a drop if you go a certain amount of time without getting it spontaneously. That will help fill your crafting inventory and spur your Evidence Board investigations, then.
In other places, Ascendant Alloy drop rate is being revised. According to Blackburn, a patch will appear in the game on Thursday that will make it easier for you to mine these rare resources (if you’re playing higher level operations). If drop rates are still too rare, Blackburn has noted that Bungie will continue to monitor and adjust drop rates as the season progresses.”
Otherwise, it looks like the game is in pretty good shape. “Overall, we’re happy with the smooth launch of The Sorceress Queen and are now trying to see how things like Void 3.0 and Weapon Crafting are affecting the rest of the game, as so we can start dialing in to make a Blackburn say: Year 5 of Destiny 2.
Here’s hoping the game stays nice and steady before the Raid launches on Saturday, March 5 at 10am PST / 1pm ET / 6pm UK.
