A DRIVER was slapped with a £160 fine for making a simple 30cm parking error.

The Kia’s owner finds the penalty ridiculous, but people have been unsympathetic in the comments.

Reddit user @u/DatabassAdmin uploaded the picture along with the caption: ‘$287 for 30cm…One of the highest possible penalties on the BBC….’

The Reddit user, from Brisbane, Australia, shared a photo of the 30cm obstruction his car caused in a neighbour’s driveway, which cost him a whopping £160 fine.

He said on the post that it was a “stupid mistake” by his wife and that it’s the first fine she’s ever received in 20 years of driving.

The man thinks they don’t deserve the punishment.

He said: “I really don’t think anyone was bothered in the slightest.

“They (the neighbors) use the rest of their double driveway to exit their property.”

However, many people in the comments think the punishment was right.

One said: “You’re over someone’s driveway. Good, well deserved for a bunch of moves.”

Another said: “You’re lucky you didn’t get towed – that’s a towable offence.”

A third pointed out: “All your ‘rules are rules’ babble and complaining about the amount of the fine gives the impression that you don’t really realize what a massive inconvenience it is when people like you (or your wife) the parking way.”
