PEOPLE are rebelling against the slim smartphone in favor of its bulky predecessors.

These “dumb” phones are actually trending. The brick Nokia is back in vogue.

Nokia announced earlier this week that it began winning back parts of the mobile phone market last year.

The former fan-favorite phone brand has succumbed to the popularity of Apple’s iPhones and Google’s Android devices in recent years.

But one trend is catching on among the smartphone generation – the people who mostly only know about touchscreen devices with access to a whole library of apps.

Now a growing community of people are swapping out their devices for simpler brick and flip phones.

The popularity of 90’s and 2000’s fashion is making teenagers and young adults around the world feel how people’s relationship with technology has changed since the “good old days” – before the advent of smartphones.

The days when you didn’t receive FOMO (fear of missing out) via social media apps or were caught in what is known as a “doom and gloom.”

The impact of smartphones and social media on mental health have helped fuel the movement.

Some call it a “dopamine diet.”

Here, they’re trying to limit their smartphone use after becoming addicted to features that give users quick bursts of dopamine — the brain’s happy chemicals — like social media or gaming.

And others introduce “dumb” phones into their lives to be more present in the “real world.”

A TikTok user @skzzolno said that she and her friends have rolled out all the flip phones to use when going to bars and clubs.

You’re then armed only with each other’s numbers and emergency contacts, with no social media or retro cameras.

This helps avoid drunken calls to old flames, embarrassing social media posts, and unflattering high-definition images and videos.

Although there are many vintage phones for sale on Ebay, here are some retro phones that are on the market today:
