The Elder Scrolls Online reveals High Isle chapter, coming this June

The Elder Scrolls Online’s next chapter Discover one of Tamriel’s lesser-known races, the Bretons. Going to a new place never seen before Elder Scrolls game in the past, the next chapter is titled High Island takes the MMO’s storytelling back to its roots.

ZeniMax’s team is once again telling a story throughout this year, titled “Legacy of Bretons,” which takes players to the Systres Islands, where the High Isle is located. Drawn there by peace talks aimed at ending the Three Banners War at the heart of Scrolls onlinehowever, political intrigue pervades the island, especially with The Ascendant Order lurking.

“They’re a group, I guess we call them rogue knights,” By ESO Lead screenwriter Bill Slaviscek told MMORPG in an interview last week when asked a bit about The Ascendant Order’s setting. “They keep their identities secret. No one knows who they are under their helmets. But they are protesting the Three Banners War. On the surface, they have a very noble purpose: to end the war. The problem comes from their method to do it. ”

The High Isle itself draws from the entire Breton culture in Elder Scrolls legends, but also from the architecture of the Mediterranean region. What we see is a mixture of the feudal society we have seen on the mainland with the prosperity and sophistication of Mediterranean life. The High Isles is filled with medieval carvings, with castles, arenas and more that speak to the feudal life in which the Bretons lived

“We wanted to take what the Bretons were known for and show what would happen if they moved it to the Mediterranean,” says Slaviscek. “So we try to show that kind of evolution.”

This year’s story focuses on the Bretons themselves, a race forgotten among the rest of Tamriel. Explore Breton culture, especially getting to know the more interesting aspects of the construction of this year-long story following The Elder Scrolls Online’s Loremaster Leamon Tuttle.

“[W]I know we want to get Breton, but like you said we know a lot about them but it’s all surface information, right? It’s like, we know that they have a kind of Knight society. People get stuck when they live in a generic fantasy space, which I think is quite difficult. But there’s a lot to learn. So the legend is flat type, it’s not particularly deep. So we got to really learn about all the medieval feudal systems, what happened to the different aristocrats, how they interacted with each other, and how they tried to work with each other. each other or through each other. You know, through assassinations and things because there’s all kinds of petty political controversies inherent to their society. “

That political intrigue plays at the heart of the story told in this year’s chapter. Going back to their roots is one of the phrases mentioned by Matt Firor in the reveal, and while the goal according to Bill is to always tell something nice, interesting ESO stories, in recent years, stories have felt a bit like that. Daedric invasions that threaten the land are certainly exciting and can unleash some interesting story elements, but after a few years of battling world-ending threats, it’s refreshing to see talk about the framed story Scrolls online since it debuted almost a decade ago.

However, the MMO does not stop building on the many successes from the previous few chapters. Partnerintroduced in Black wood, are having a few new adventurers meet and search. This time around Ember, a Khajiit magic user, and Isobel, a Breton Knight who can join you on your journey.

Elder Scrolls Online Tribute Card Game

Coming to the Chapter this time is a new feature: an in-game card game called Tales of Tribute. The game itself was invented on the High Isle, and the player can play this resource building game with both players and characters around the world.

“We’ve always tried to give players an opportunity to do something in Tamriel, not have to run around fighting monsters and doing quests,” explains Tuttle. “This Tales of Tribute game is amazing. It comes with a full line of quests to pass, daily newspapers, also leaderboards where players will be able to compete against each other. Things like this make the world feel real, that’s what we’ve always tried to do, especially with The Elder Scrolls, because realism in the sense that it’s a physical location is important to the franchise and how it works. “

As with recent annual adventures, “The Legacy of the Bretons” will begin in March 2022 with DLC, titled The Ascending Tide, which one set? High Island chapter with two new dungeons. Four major updates in 2022 will immerse players in the political intrigue and wars of Breton society as representatives of the Three Banners War attempt to talk peace. It will be interesting to see how it plays out this year, like The Elder Scrolls Online’s High Island this chapter will be out on June 6thorder for PC, Mac, and Stadia, while Xbox and PlayStation players will wait until June 21st to see what The Ascendant Order is.
