Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins tragically died after being shot by a prop gun on the set of Alec Baldwin’s Rust last year

The family of Halyna Hutchins, who was shot dead by Alec Baldwin on the set of Rust, is trapped in Ukraine.

The cameraman’s mother, Olga Androsovych, bravely continues her work as a nurse while Russia continues its invasion of the country.

Halyna was 42 when actor Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun at her chest after being told it wasn’t loaded.

Her husband Matthew says her family is stuck in the capital, Kyiv, unable to escape due to Russian attacks on designated safe passages.

Halyna’s father also remains in the war-torn country.

Matthew told TMZ that his sister-in-law and three-year-old niece made it to the Romanian border.

He believes there should be a no-fly zone over Ukraine and believes China should intervene.

Russia is now in its third week of terror, reducing hospitals, schools, orphanages and sanctuaries to rubble.

Alec Baldwin’s attorney recently said his contract made him “financially untouchable” because of Halyna’s death.

Piers Morgan said the position was “disgusting” and hit out at the actor over the conjecture.

The star gave a full account of the tragedy in October last year and has been named in several court cases.

His lawyers say the actor said he was not responsible for her death as he had been assured the gun he was holding contained no live ammunition.

Alec argued that he was not responsible for checking the safety of a firearm on set.

The papers said, “She instructed Baldwin to hold the gun higher to the point where it was pointed at her,” it said.

“She looked intently at the monitor and then at Baldwin and then back again as she gave those instructions. In issuing and following these instructions, Hutchins and Baldwin shared one basic, fundamental belief: that the gun was “cold” and contained no live cartridges.”

Baldwin then asked Hutchins if she wanted him to retract the gavel as the script dictated, and she said yes, the filing said.

“Baldwin then pulled the hammer back, but not far enough to actually cock the gun,” it said. “When Baldwin released the hammer, the gun went off.”

His attorney, Luke Nikas, claims a clause Baldwin, 63, and his company signed into his contract means he bears no financial responsibility for legal fees or claims arising out of the death.
