The famous Buswells Hotel, the scene of decades of political intrigue in Ireland, is up for sale for 22 million euros

Dublin’s iconic Buswells Hotel has been launched with a target price of €22 million.

he 67 room hotel has been in operation since the 19th century and is at the heart of Dublin’s political and cultural life, overlooking Molesworth Street and Kildare Street.

Located opposite Leinster House, the hotel is a popular meeting place for politicians and journalists and has been the site of many political press conferences over the last few decades.

Forbes has called the hotel “one of Europe’s most notable power hotels” due to its proximity to Leinster House, and it is often referred to as the third house of the Oireachtas.

Many memorable political moments have taken place at the hotel, and because there were so many TDs there, there was even a bell in the dining room that rang when a vote was imminent.

That bell has disappeared as Leinster House has its own dining and bar facilities, but it is still a popular meeting place for TDs and Senators.

One of the busiest days for the hotel is Budget Day as it becomes the unofficial hub for government, journalists and advocacy groups.

The hotel was put on the market by property consultant Savills.

Tom Barrett, the company’s Head of Hotels and Leisure, said: “Buswells is in a prime location in Dublin. Top notch yet discreet and at the heart of everything an upscale hotel guest needs.

“The latest STR data for Dublin shows strong trading with 86 percent occupancy in July at €188 ADR and 21 percent RevPAR over July 2019.

“This hotel offers a very rare opportunity to add value to a premier Dublin hotel.”
