Irish e-commerce finance startup Wayflyer, which raised $150 million in January at a valuation of $1.6 billion, has launched an executive addiction .

The company, co-founded by CEO Aidan Corbett and company president Jack Pierse, has attracted senior staff from Revolut, Stripe, Paddy Power Betfair and Candy Crush gaming company King.

Róisín Faizullah-Khan, former Head of International Recruitment at Stripe, has joined the Dublin-based company as the new Vice President of Talent Acquisition. Also new is Ciara Smyth, Wayflyer’s new Chief Talent Officer, who was Chief People Officer at King, the mobile games company behind Candy Crush and Farm Heroes.

A former Revolut international growth executive, Will Mahon-Heap, has joined Wayflyer as chief business officer, while Paddy Power-Betfair’s former head of advertising and branding, Emer McCarthy, has joined as brand leader.

Wayflyer says headcount increased 525 percent in 2021, from 40 to 250 employees.

Wayflyer lends money to other e-commerce businesses that need to buy inventory or other things. It is repaid as a percentage of its borrowers’ earnings, with an additional fee charged for the advance.

His source of credit comes from family mutual funds and other private commercial and financial investors. Its analytics technology evaluates an applicant’s funding application based on access to the applicant’s own IT systems. The appeal for ecommerce businesses is that funding is provided within 48 hours rather than over a period of weeks.

“Our latest round of funding means we have confidence in meeting our 2022 hiring goals, enabling us to scale quickly and reach even more e-commerce businesses around the world,” said CEO Aidan Corbett.

“Throughout the year, we have plans to add even more strength to our broader team, along with several C-suite level appointments.”

The company has also promoted Dan O’Brien to the position of Chief Revenue Officer and a new member of the executive team.

Deirdre MacCarthy has been officially appointed Wayflyer’s Chief Legal Officer, having served as Wayflyer’s outside counsel since the company’s inception.

Ms. MacCarthy previously worked at law firms such as the Maples Group, ByrneWallace and Arthur Cox.

Wayflyer plans to increase its global headcount this year from 250 to 600 people in offices in Dublin, Atlanta, London and Sydney.
