The five best games that take place at Christmas

ALMOST everyone has their favorite selection of Christmas movies that they watch each Christmas season, but they rarely think of Christmas games.

But games can be just as fun as their movie counterparts, even more so when played with friends.

There are many games taking place in December to get you in the Christmas spirit.

Here are our favorite games for the holiday season.

Batman: Arkham Origins

Batman is no stranger to fighting crime during the holiday season, and Arkham Origins is no exception.

Not only is it an excellent Batman game, but the whole story unfolds over the course of Christmas Eve.

It’s not exactly full of Christmas cheer, but there’s certainly enough atmosphere to call it a Christmas game.

It takes quintessential downbeat Gotham and gives it a celebratory twist.

Super Mario Odyssey

We’re not sure when Super Mario Odyssey takes place, but one of its many worlds is a beautiful snowy landscape.

Take part in endless winter activities like snow races and watch plump polar bears hopping around in cute winter clothes.

Not only does Mario Odyssey fit the snowy theme, it’s a great family game for everyone to get together and play.

If the true meaning of the holidays isn’t being with family, then why are we letting grandpa steal all the Yorkshire puddings?

bayonet 2

This one is certainly less family-friendly; similar to Die Hard, it takes place around Christmas time.

Bayonetta spends almost the entire game fighting Angels, which goes against the season’s theme, but her heart is in the right place.

She literally travels to the ends of the earth to save her best friend Jeanne and reunites with her estranged parents.

If your parents’ showing of your new partner doesn’t scream Christmas, I don’t know what does.

Bully will remind you what it’s like to be a kid waking up on Christmas Day, which is the closest we’ll ever be to.

Although our protagonist is more likely to be on Santa’s naughty list than the nice one, that doesn’t mean he can’t enjoy Christmas.

In the third chapter, December 25 rolls around and Jimmy gets to play in the snow while tormenting the other kids.

It’s one of the few times in the game where you don’t have a time limit, so you can open your presents and explore Bullworth in all its festive glory.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales

It seems that superheroes enjoy the holiday season just as much as us normal folk, since Miles Morales is the second crime fighter on our list.

Since Spider-Man leads a double life, you get to see two sides of Christmas.

There’s Miles Morales visiting his family to share gifts and celebrate.

And then there’s Spider-Man, swinging through a head-to-toe snow-covered New York City.
